How it Works

The float drain is normally open. A pilot operated discharge valve closes at approximately 14 PSI line pressure to seal the drain. Liquid raises the float and lets pilot air open the discharge valve. Discharged liquids lowers float closing pilot valve and line pressure closes discharge valve. System pressure produces a strong on-off action. When the compressed air system is shut down, the discharge valve returns to its normally open position and liquid drains by gravity. Unit has a manual override to check operation. A threaded outlet is provided to pipe discharge to remote locations.

Maintenance

Insert eraser end of pencil in discharge outlet to push “manual override” to check operation before disassembly. SHUT OFF AIR and bleed leg or filter to atmosphere before disassembly.

DO NOT attempt to disassemble nylon float drain. Do not remove “bobber” from stem. You will cause it to become inoperative permanently. Clean drain and body with a petroleum solvent or warm soap and water. Inspect “O” ring is on the drain stem. Carefully tighten bottom. DO NOT over-tighten. Screw body onto cap, making sure “O” ring is in cap groove.
